Ooh, yeah! I had a great weekend last week – I got all the supplies I needed to start working on jewelry, I got a new bag with RAINBOW MUSIC NOTES on it (seriously, it was like a psychedelic flashback to when I was first violin in my school orchestra), I had excellent luck, and when I left the Walmart in my New Jersey hometown, I got treated to a free fireworks show visible all the way from over in the park (like, a couple miles away)!

So you know what that means… I’M IN THE MOOD FOR A CONTEST!

Unlike the last one, this one will go for longer so I can get more people and everyone has plenty of time. I’m going to set the deadline for between August 20th-September 1st – but it could be moved back a bit. Depends.

This contest is really weird compared to all the ones I’ve ever seen – there are two different types of entries you can submit, which allows you more creativity and freedom to do whatever you like: Design and Misheard Lyrics Illustration. Depending on what you feel like, you can choose one or the other, one of each or you can do both in one!

Design

Like my last contest, this involves creating a character design, but not just any design. In this case, you’d be designing an alternate form for my fursona, Rava.
Rava’s forms tend to be based on different aspects of my personality and my heritage, as well as each one corresponding to a mood. As of right now, her forms include: Normal, Asian, Tox Screen, Yako/Ninko Rava (evil Kitsune/invisible Kitsune), Inari Rava (good Kitsune), Native American, Carrot Cake (pretty much the same as normal Rava, but with white fur along her back), Coyote, Wolf and Dog.

What it entails:
You can make the form any specie/animal you like, even ones I’ve already done (like wolf, dog, etc.)
The form should speak to my personality – don’t be afraid to ask me questions about myself, I don’t bite :] (I’ll throw in some stuff about me at the end of this journal to help you out)
I especially like designs with: Jolly Rogers (skulls and crossbones, you know - that thing lol), stripes, polkadots, stars, hearts, checkers, anything spiked, anything punk, anything colorful, anything rave-ish; just use your imagination
Feel free to include suggested accessories – I love it when people do that

Misheard Lyrics Illustration

These are seriously fun to do – here’s a couple examples of what I’m talking about:

I came up with this concept almost a year ago, when I stumbled across Am I Right[dot]com. I have such a blast looking up my favorite bands on there, people hear the funniest things in songs!

Your goal here is to make a picture of Rava (in any of her forms) that illustrates a misheard lyric. This option offers a lot of possibilities, because who knows what you’ll come up with when you read these things ! I’ll include a few misheard lyrics at the end of this journal that I particularly like (in case you’d like something specific for inspiration), but I encourage you to look up your favorite songs on amiright.com and use them! Even if I’ve never heard the song, it’ll still be funny to see how people have misinterpreted it .

What it entails:
You may use one of the misheard lyrics below OR (better yet) go on amiright.com, look up your favorite band and your favorite song and draw it :]
You don’t need to illustrate the lyric in a literal sense – it could be just whatever it reminds you of
Make sure you put the Misheard/Original lyric somewhere in the Artist’s Comments – whether you put it in the pic itself is up to you (I usually put the misheard line in the pic, with the entry from the site in my comments)
I’d like the picture to be of Rava (again, any form you like), but you could do one of my other characters, if you like – AAAND, you are allowed to have one (or more) of your characters interacting with her in the pic :ninjaglompplz:

RULES
Do not use any pre-made lineart/makeables – all drawings must be your own
You can illustrate the same lyric/song as another person, just don’t steal their ideas – you have the freedom to use anything you want, there’s no need for that
Backgrounds aren’t required, but they do add to the aesthetic quality of the pic – it’s up to you, though
You can submit as many entries as you like
You can do any combination of entries you like – design or illustration, design and illustration or both in one
You can put your characters in the pic with Rava
Guest judges are welcome – I usually just get my friends who aren’t artsy to help me out
EVERYONE is welcome to enter

General aesthetics (that DOESN’T include drawing skill – I don’t judge on that :3) – the picture has balance, it’s not over/under done, clear display of thought being put into it, action (that’s not a huge requirement, but a little movement is nice lol)

For Design: A little about me (if anyone needs to know)… I’m a mix of prep-punk-gangsta, in middle school I was the frontgirl of a punk rock band, music is my life, I speak French (and a little bit of other languages), I’m a fanatic for South Korean dramas (they make excellent shows over there), I am madly obsessed with the stars and astrophysics, I love science in general, I was a Nurse’s Assistant for 3 years, I love gambling, I am addicted to comics/videogames, I’ve moonlighted as a paranormal investigator, I can’t stop drinking coffee, I drink liquor (responsibly), my grandfather had a yellow plane… That’s all I can think of .
